Indianapolis Raceway Ministries is an independent ministry affiliated with the National Fellowship of Raceway Ministries. The National Fellowship of Raceway Ministries (NFRM) is a fellowship of local ministry groups that share the message of hope in Jesus Christ with race fans, competitors, and motor sports participants of all kinds. Currently, the NFRM has member groups that share the Lord from Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, all the way up to the New Hampshire International Speedway in Loudon, and over to California Speedway in Fontana. Many of the groups share the Lord at the major speedways where NASCAR, the IRL, and CART race, while many others minister at road coarses or local, weekly racing venues where modifieds, sprint cars and street stocks battle it out every weekend.
Indianapolis Raceway Ministries started with a meeting in September of 2003. Representatives from the National Fellowship of Raceway Ministries, Motor Racing Outreach, On Track Ministries and about 15 others met to discuss the possibilities of launching a Raceway Ministries group for the Indianapolis area. Out of the meeting a core leadership group emerged and continued to meet and make plans to launch Indianapolis Raceway Ministries. The leadership team elected David Martin to represent and serve as the director for Indianapolis Raceway Ministries.
In 2006, Indianapolis Raceway Ministries was given the green light to begin ministry at the running of the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. The following year IRM was invited back to become a permanent fixture at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, providing ministry for all race events in two locations at the world's most famous speedway.
Indianapolis Raceway Ministries is made up of over 100 team members, representing over 20 churches. It is with great joy that the Indianapolis Raceway Ministries team serves the fans of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. We owe a great debt of gratitude for the leadership for Dr. Roger Marsh, the National Fellowship of Raceway Ministries, John Roberts, Kentucky Raceway Ministries and the team members of Indianapolis Raceway Ministries. No one ever crosses the finish line alone ... it takes a team. The Lord has provided us with a great team.
